Doyle has more than 20 years working in the rehabilitation industry including wheelchair seating, home modifications, and adaptive recreational equipment. He is a RESNA certified Assistive Technology Professional whose article on Assistive Technology Equipment was published in Rehab industry magazine. He has also conducted presentations for professionals as part of their Continuing Education Credits. However, most of you may recognize Doyle as he most recently he worked at Top End as Customer Service Product Specialist/Technical Support for seven years.
He has more than 25 years of wheelchair basketball experience, including being a member of the top-5 ranked Music City Lightning in the late 1980s. He also has 30 years of wheelchair tennis experience, topping at 5th in the Nation in A Division before going into the Open Division. He was a certified tennis instructor through the USPTR for several years. He has been handcycling for more than 20 years and has been involved in both recreational and competitive events such as marathons, criteriums and time trials.
He and his wife Natalie started the Rays Wheelchair Softball Team in 2004. It was and still is the only softball team in the state of FL. He has played shortstop, 1st base, 2nd base and right field since the team’s inception. Their highest ranking to date is 3rd in the Nation. The St. Petersburg Times published a nice article about the team in 2005. Through the years he has also participated in track and field events, road races and racquetball tournaments.
Doyle has volunteered his time to direct people toward independence and the realization that they can still be fit, productive and involved. Some of the organizations he has worked with include various Easter Seals events, UCP wheelchair basketball clinics, Super Sports Saturday’s for Kids wheelchair sports clinics, Shriner’s Hospital – Camp Care-a-lot, 1996 Paralympic tennis scorekeeper in Atlanta, GA, various events for Paralympic Sport Tampa Bay (basketball, tennis, softball for kids) and BaseLine Wheelchair Tennis Foundation fundraising events.
